New Police Headquarters
Open for business: Less than one year after breaking ground on November 21, 2008, the new Littleton Police Headquarters at 500 Great Road opened for business on October 28, 2009. A formal dedication ceremony was held on Sunday, December 6, 2009.

The groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the new police station was held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the 500 Great Road building site.

Project completed below budget. Town Meeting voters in 2008 authorized total borrowing of $6,585,308 for the Littleton Police Headquarters project– $300,000 was to complete design, and $6,285,308 was for construction. The amount expended for construction was only $6,023,303, though– $262,305 or 4.17% below budget.
On November 16, 2009, the Permanent Municipal Building Committee presented a summary of all change orders for the new police headquarters construction project.
Construction contract awarded.The Permanent Municipal Building Committee voted on November 13, 2008 to award the construction contract for the new police station to low bidder G&R Construction of Quincy, MA for $4,400,700 for the base bid plus one alternate.
November 4, 2008 Election voters approve debt exclusion ballot question. October 20, 2008 Special Town Meeting approves $6.28-million for New Police Station; Construction funding a quarter of million dollars below estimate. By a vote of 2,889 to 2,021, November 4, 2008 election voters approved a debt exclusion ballot question for construction of a new police station. Earlier– by a margin of 398 to 69– voters at the October 20, 2008 Special Town Meeting approved borrowing $6.28-million for construction of a new police station. The amount approved was some $250,000 less than the $6.54-million project estimate, due to results of the October 10, 2008 bid opening. May 2008 Town Meeting approves $300,000 for police station design; debt exclusion ballot question passes 802-497.
With support from voters at the May 5, 2008 Special Town Meeting, and the May 10, 2008 Annual Town Election, the Town of Littleton is designing a new Police Station for construction at Town-owned property at 500 Great Road. Supplemental design funds of $300,000 were approved at the May 5, 2008 Special Town Meeting , with a debt exclusion ballot question approved at the May 10, 2008 Annual Town Election by a vote of 802 yes, 497 no. This supplemental $300,000 ($115,000 to complete design, $162,000 to produce construction documents, and $23,000 to bid out the project) would bring the total design cost to 9% of the construction total. On June 23, 2008, the Board of Selectmen voted to approve a Change Order with The Carell Group, Inc., Architects, of Hopkinton, MA in the amount of $300,000 for schematic design development, construction documents, and bidding to complete the design of a new police station to be located on Town-owned property at 500 Great Road.

On October 1, 2007, the Board of Selectmen voted “to direct the Town Administrator to convene a working group of affected and support staff, together with the Permanent Building Committee, to bring back to the Board of Selectmen a comprehensive plan for siting of Town facilities,including the police, fire, parks and recreation, and council on aging, by January 15, 2008, for consideration at the 2008 Annual Town Meeting.”
